It’s a scam. We went to see The Day The Earth Stood Still last night and it was just a normal screen with a digital projector (albeit a nice one). Lincoln Center seems to be the only real IMAX game in town; it has a truly giant screen and an actual 70mm film projector. I know the movie industry is falling over itself to get people back into theaters, but diluting one of the few visual experiences that differentiates itself meaningfully from the setup in my living room is disappointing.
